Running from March 13-17, March break 2017 is just around the corner. It’s the perfect time for kids to take some much needed time out of the classroom and enjoy some unique and creative activity programming that can really help nurture their personal skills and interests. Here are some of the excellent March Break programs happening throughout the Market District neighbourhood this year!
CITY OF PICKERING MARCH BREAK CAMPS
The City of Pickering has a variety of March break programming available for kids aged 4-12. There’s a sports camp (ages 5-12) for the budding athlete in the family; a crafts, play and dance-focused camp for younger kids (ages 4-5); an arts camp that also offers daily swimming, dress up days, and a special end of the week play day (ages 5-12); there’s even an Extend-a-Camp (ages 4-12) that allows parents to drop off kids before their chosen daily camp from 7:00-9:00 am and from 3:15-6:00 pm.
MARCH BREAK AT PICKERING ATHLETIC CENTRE
1503 Sandy Beach Road
Pickering Athletic Centre is a leader in providing both competitive and recreational level training in gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling, acrobatics and more. At the March break camp, every day has its own special theme: Monday will feature a music and movement theme; Tuesday’s theme will be “Adventureland”; Wednesday will be a colourful day with the “Rainbow World” theme; Thursday’s theme will be learning to work together; and Friday’s fun theme will be “Hop to it (Easter is Coming)”.
THEATRE CAMP AT ACT ONE SCHOOL OF DRAMA
1775 Plummer St.
This camp is a great way for kids aged 6-13 to expand their dramatic horizons. Here, kids can hone their acting skills through a balanced mix of fun and games, along with creative activities that all have a theatrical focus. On Monday and Wednesday, the kids will be bussed to Greenwood Community Centre for some (weather permitting) fun outdoor activity time.
March Break at Toronto Zoo
2000 Meadowvale Rd
While parent supervision is required for this last one, it’s worth noting that the nearby Toronto Zoo has extended hours and programming all week long this March break. Kids can enjoy fun, interactive meet-and-greets with some of their favourite Toronto Zoo characters, and from 10-2 pm daily all week, there is a chance to learn about Canada’s only giant panda cubs.
